The purpose of the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum is
to collect, preserve, interpret and display historical and cultural
materials relating to the westward expansion, to Wyoming pioneers in
paticular and the west in general. The original museum was built in
1925 by the Wyoming Pioneer Association, whose driving force has been
the legacy and preservation of our past. The Pioneers have met annually
during the Wyoming State Fair since 1905. Today, the Association acts
as an advisory board to the museum, leaving the operation to the Department
of State Parks and Cultural Resources.
The museum is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
From June 1 to September 30, the museum is also open on Saturdays from
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The museum is closed on Sundays, and all state
holidays.
There is no admission fee, however donations are accepted.
The museum's gift shop sells western history books, T-shirts, posters
and post cards, jewelry, and Wyoming souvenirs.
The Museum is accessible for persons with disabilities, and there is
a wheelchair available for those who require one. Access to the bottom
floor of the museum is available via elevator.
